    Mick Manning, Brita Granstrom

Hardcover (Frances Lincoln Children's Books, April 28, 2009)
As a boy, Mick Manning listened in awe to his fatherā€™s hair-raising tales about life as an RAF airgunner during the Second World War. Now, years later, he has recreated his father's stories, writing them down as if his dad were speaking the words. These stories tell of the human confict behind the war's headlines, capturing what itā€™s like to undergo rigorous RAF training, soar through the skies in a bomber, face a comparably skilled and implacable enemy, endure food rationing, and more. Author Manning collaborated with his wife Brita Granstrƶm in illustrating this story, combining artwork with letters and mementos that evoke this turning point in history.
  • Charlie's Tail

    Greg Husby, Jilian Husby

    Paperback (XlibrisUS, Nov. 11, 2009)
Charlie, Toby, the yapping Pomeranian dog and Mimi are all based upon our pets. Each has developed a mutual trust and respect for one another. The rhythm of our animalā€™s lives is much less complex than our own, but none-the-less as important to them as they are to us. Looking to see Charlie in the morning is as routine as getting a cup of coffee or putting on my socks. Eventually the cat door opens and he walks through, cold and damp. I often wonder where heā€™s been all night, as I hold him close to warm him.
