The isolation begins at an exceptionally early age for Calgary, and it is all thanks to one popular, golden-haired boy. Throughout his childhood, Calgary manages to work through an absolutely friendless existence. But just as the ostracized Calgary grows accustomed to his lonesomeness, a lively, fascinating girl moves to town and causes Calgary to question his lonely way of life. When this girl, Juniper, instantly breaks down his wall of solitude, Calgary begins to see that building a friendship is something he could thrive on. So when Joey, the golden-haired boy, tears the friendship apart, the devastation of Juniper’s betrayal and of being thrown back into isolation is unbearable. In conflicting hopes of gaining Juniper’s amity back and possibly gaining the acceptance of his other classmates, Calgary determines that the time has come to reveal his hidden talent – playing piano – in the school-wide talent show. Unbeknownst to Calgary, the sly Joey devises a ploy to sabotage Calgary’s chances of pulling off a successful show, and to obliterate any chances of rekindling a friendship with Juniper.
