  • A Book of Country Clouds and Sunshine

    Clifton Johnson

Paperback (Forgotten Books, Oct. 12, 2017)
Excerpt from A Book of Country Clouds and SunshineHE Clouds and Sunshine which make up this book are those of life rather than those of nature. The book is, first of all, about the farmer and his ways, about Village life and character. What country life really is, I have tried to make clear, with the use of rose-colored spectacles. Ou the other hand, I have no wish to lay undue stress on the shadows. Country life has its drawbacks yet, to my feeling, a pleasant New England village. Not too far removed from a large town and the railroad, is the best dwelling-place in the world. New England has a charm of variety that few other regions of our country can rival. It has a virile individuality that its own children can never forget. One grows to love its rough hills and wooded mountain ridges, the singing of its streams, its summer heats, its winter storms, even; and no amount of prosperity and honor elsewhere can entirely compensate for this loss. I spoke of a country Village as being the ideal home. You cannot, however, get its aroma and its finer pleasures by mov ing into such a village, - not even if you build a mansion there.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. • Cloud and Sunshine:

    Georges Ohnet, Mrs. Helen Stott

Paperback (Leopold Classic Library, March 4, 2016)
About the Book The romance novel, which is sometimes termed the romantic novel, places its primary focus on the development of a romantic relationship and love between two people. The sub-genres of the romance novel include: fantasy, historical romance, paranormal fiction, and science fiction. Romance novels existed in ancient Greece, and were also to be found in the literary fiction of the 18th and 19th centuries in the works of such authors as Samuel Richardson and Jane Austen. Also in this Book Titles that are fiction anthologies are collections of fiction works chosen by the compiler. They may be a collection of stories by different authors. Also in this Book Urban fiction is set in the urban landscape, although the genre is as much defined by socio-economic and cultural themes. Urban fiction usually has a dark backdrop, focusing on lower socio-economic characters. Themes include profanity, sex, and violence, with authors often drawing upon their own past experiences to enrich their stories. About us Leopold Classic Library has the goal of making available to readers the classic books that have been out of print for decades. While these books may have occasional imperfections, we consider that only hand checking of every page ensures readable content without poor picture quality, blurred or missing text etc. That's why we: republish only hand checked books; that are high quality; enabling readers to see classic books in original formats; that are unlikely to have missing or blurred pages. You can search "Leopold Classic Library" in categories of your interest to find other books in our extensive collection. Happy reading!
