  • SUMMER OF THE APOCALYPSE

    James Van Pelt

eBook (Fairwood Press, Jan. 4, 2011)
When a plague wipes out most of humanity, fifteen-year-old Eric sets out to find his father. Sixty years later, Eric starts another long journey in an America that has long since quit resembling our own, but there are shadows everywhere. Shadows of what the world once was, and shadows from Eric's past. Blood bandits, wolves, fire, feral children, and an insane militia are only a few of the problems Eric faces. Set in Denver, Colorado and the western foothills, Van Pelt's first novel is both a coming-of-age tale, and a story of an old man's search for hope in the midst of disaster. Eric's two adventures lead him through a slice of modern America and into the depths of one man's heart.

  • ANGELS OF THE APOCALYPSE

    Jennifer Hilary

language (Firethorn Press, March 30, 2017)
From Jennifer Hilary, best-selling author of Tender Branches, Staying Alive and This Wasn’t Supposed to Happen, a new tale:A lovely autumn day, a high school field trip to a historic abbey, a monastery. The visitors cross the lake to the isolated ancient abbey, which had been shipped stone by stone from England and lovingly rebuilt. It is now an active monastery with an attached small convent. They step out into a lovely natural world of wildlife, birds and autumn foliage. But within the next hours they lose a beloved mentor. The abbey seems ominous now, dark, frightening. The four white horsemen of the Apocalypse: War, Famine, Pestilence and Death come charging into the quiet contemplative world, unseen perhaps, but real in their battle with the Angels of the Apocalypse whom the prayerful believe strive invisibly to protect the community. The abbey is no longer limited to just the religious, but frightened young visitors and their teachers. We learn of their lives, their dreams, and take heart at their drive to survive, their clever solutions to life’s new challenges. Romance blooms even in the Dark Times. As they work together in their new community, the eternal questions are asked and asked again. Will there be answers?

  • Moles of the Apocalypse

    Jack Craig, Ian Craig

eBook (Tythby Hill, July 11, 2013)
Watch Out! You shouldn't build your house just anywhere. Someone, or something, might already be living there. As a rule, moles are fairly easy going and put up with quite a lot. But this family of moles just aren't like that. Everyone knows moles are clever. Think about it, when did you last see a run-over mole? Badgers, bunnies and hedgehogs get themselves run over all the time. They're just not careful. But not moles. So when a happy, friendly and loving family build their dream house on top of the home of some pretty ruthless and inventive moles, the results are far more than alarming! But don't read this book if you are a delicate child. And you certainly shouldn't read it if you love all gentle creatures. And, most of all, YOU MUST NOT READ THIS BOOK IF YOU ARE ABOUT TO MOVE INTO A BRAND NEW HOUSE, recently built on land that had small tunnels just beneath the surface. This book, short as it is, was written by my son Jack when he was about four. Jack has a very dark sense of humour. I recently rediscovered it, and thought that sharing it with you might just make your day. His writing isn't perfect though, so I've taken the liberty of writing what I think he wrote near where it should be, so that you - another very irresponsible adult - can pass the story on without too much bother.
