  • Something to Shout About

    Berdine Dent, Robyn Thompson

    language (, Sept. 13, 2013)
The fiery tree toads, Bartholomew and Rose, are the smallest animals in the Neddlebee family; they are only the size of Lilly Bee’s little finger. Rose, the smaller of the two, is very shy and rarely is seen. Bart, on the other hand, doesn’t feel small at all, and he has a personality as large as any of the thirteen pets that share Lilly Bee’s room. On a good day, the little toad can give out a bark that impresses even, Match, the only dog in the group. You would think that when he has some great news, he would want to blare it out for everyone to hear.. But first he wants to privately tell Holly (the middle sized turtle who is everyone’s best friend). However, something always interferes with his attempt to speak to his friend alone. One thing he does manage to do is persuade Rose to come out of their forest and become involved in the activity of the room. She learns that she loves knowing the“gossip.” Sitting on top of their beautiful green and pink castle, looking out at all that is going on, she realizes that she has never been so happy. This pleases Bart, but there’s still the business of the news that is so big and important, that after he tells Holly, he wants to shout about it. You would think that he deserves to do that, but then. . .
