Snow Leopard: Fun Facts and Amazing Photos about Snow Leopards When you say snow leopard, what’s the first thing that comes to mind? You can probably picture a cat playing in the snow when someone says snow leopards. You may even already know about regular leopards; big cats with the circular patterns on their fur. That’s great, because they can look almost exactly the same. Let’s look closer at these beautiful creatures and learn more about them. Male adult snow leopards are usually bigger than the females. They have short front legs and long back legs that help them run fast. Because of the size of their legs, they can actually push themselves forward to up to 30 feet. That’s about 30 pieces of 12 inch rulers laid flat in a single line! Snow leopards also have big paws that help them keep their bodies from sinking into the snow. That’s a lot better than wearing snow shoes. And since they like to live in cold and snowy places, their long tail also helps them stay warm. They can curl it up around their body when they sleep, just like a furry scarf.
