When Parker, his dad, and sister Emma move to New York three years after his mother’s death, Parker is having a hard time. He misses London and his friends, his father is distracted with his new job, and Emma is looking out for him instead of the other way around. And then Parker’s dad, on the cusp of a technological breakthrough, is kidnapped. Thanks to a message his dad sent telepathically before the signal cut off, Parker is suddenly on a rescue mission. Now Parker and Emma, along with their friend Michael and Polly the pig, must confront the only link to their father—a dangerous man locked away in an asylum. But all the signs point to one thing: the company his dad works for is up to something big. Huge. A perfectly sinister project that threatens far more than Parker’s family. A project called SIX.

    Kyla Ryman, Katherine Bradford

Board book (Home Grown Books, Aug. 1, 2015)
Children will love identifying what sort of thing is being repeated (is it a boat? a swimmer? a buoy?) while also becoming more familiar with counting. For young children, this is a beautiful introduction to the world of numbers. For toddlers and older children, the content of the paintings leave a lot of room for discussion and thought beyond the pages of the book. The numbers inside this board book are out of order, encouraging children to interact with the artwork and explore the paintings at their own pace.

    Karen Tayleur

    eBook (Walker, Aug. 1, 2014)
A late-night party. A generous splash of alcohol. A sprinkle of bad weather. One car. Five seatbelts. Six people. One outcome: disaster. Six is a young adult fiction thriller by Australian author Karen Tayleur. This coming-of-age novel is told from the perspectives of six teenagers as they deal with death, tragedy and growing up. It was short-listed for the 2012 Young Australians’ Best Book Award (YABBA). For more gripping YA, read Karen’s other books: Chasing Boys, Hostage and Love Notes From Vinegar House. Visit her online at www.karentayleur.com “Karen Tayleur holds the reader’s interest from the dramatic prologue to the very last page of this cleverly plotted, character-driven novel for young adults … Highly recommended.” Magpies magazine “A real page turner, Six will leave you wanting more.” Dolly Magazine “Karen Tayleur’s coming-of-age story is both masterfully written and thoroughly gripping.” The Age “Six works well as a thriller but even better as a tense and taut coming-of-age story. The climactic build-up as each member of the group prepares for the Year 12 Formal effectively explores the brittle friendships and relationships teenagers form at school in their constant quest for recognition and identity … Karen Tayleur has crafted a clever book that will entice even the most jaded of readers.” Fiction Focus “Six is a delicious blend of thriller and coming of age story which is sure to tickle the palate of teen readers who will enjoy unravelling the connections between the six characters and trying to work out what has happened and what will happen.” Aussie Reviews
