  • Romp Through The Swamp

    J. Louise Powell

language (StoryMothers, Inc., May 6, 2017)
Chuckie is a long-term resident of Gulf Shores Zoo in Alabama. During Hurricane Ivan his enclosure was ruined. He did not escape zoo grounds, but this is a tale of what may have happened if he did. It is suspenseful and rhyming, though the language and subject may be too much for very small children. Though Chuckie used to roam the campgrounds in southern Alabama, most of the pictures were based on Big Lagoon State Park in Florida. It may be good to remind your audience ahead of time that it is just a story, if you plan to read it out loud. A few alligator facts are included at the end.
