  • MJ's New Friend

    Judy Ann Lowe

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, April 13, 2014)
MJ’s New Friend is a story of acceptance, friendship and finding the courage to do the right thing. When MJ sees a new boy at soccer practice, he notices there is something different about the boy, but instinctively likes and trusts him. As their friendship unfolds, MJ learns there is more to the boy than he realizes. It is up to MJ to “step up to the plate” and become a leader, stand up for his friend, and encourage the other children to look past their apparent differences and find the heart of friendship in diversity.Appropriate for all ages, MJ’s New Friend encourages positive character traits and helps children understand acts of friendship, courage, love, loyalty, strength, perseverance, leadership, and self reliance. The inspiration for this story came from the author’s husband, Sam Lowe, who had an interest in UFOs and people from other planets. It is Judy’s desire that children of all ages open their hearts to those who are a little different. Our beautiful planet Earth will only evolve through love and light.

  • Pinky's New Friend

    Bridget Jardine

Hardcover (Trafford Publishing, Oct. 19, 2007)
Pinky's New Friend tells the story of how a young boy, called Jeremy, spends a Christmas holiday with his Grandfather and befriends a guinea-pig. The old man, who owns the pet, is no longer able to pay the Guinea-pig much attention, so Pinky welcomes the chance to be taken out of his cage and played with during Jeremy's visit. The story goes on to describe the different adventures had by the two of them as they get to know one another. However, Pinky is rather prone to accidents and has an unfortunate mishap during one of their games, in which he falls into a stream and is carried away from Jeremy by the current. The story goes on to describe the rather ingenious way Pinky is eventually saved from disaster. Jeremy finds a discarded boot amongst the long grass and upon throwing it into the water, coaxes the frightened guinea-pig to climb into it, therefore bobbing safely to the bank of the stream. The two wet and bedraggled friends arrive back at Grandfather's house where they are greeted by a very unimpressed Grandfather! Once Christmas Day arrives, Jeremy receives a very special and unexpected gift from his Grandfather... Pinky. He realizes that the Guinea-pig would be better off living with Jeremy where he would get the care and attention he deserves. Jeremy is, of course, delighted with the prospect of taking Pinky home with him and promises to visit Grandfather again soon.
