First Words is a set of six Stage 1 titles designed to fill a perceived gap between the wordless Stage 1 books and Stage 2. They introduce the Stage 1 key words (the characters' names; `a', `and' and `the') in a set of motivating child-centred stores: Where does the mysterious spaceman comefrom? Why is Floppy out of favour? What happens to Mum and Dad's bed? Look in on the `Biff and Chip Show'; join the family having fun at the beach; and find out what's cooking.These Stage 1 titles will be accompanied by Big Books and Extended Stories.

Oxford Reading Tree Stages 10-11 Glow-worms were formerly Jackdaws and More Jackdaws poetry. Each of the six books in the pack have fresh new covers with exciting illustrations by a variey of artists. This poetry selection has been chosen to match topics relevant to the age group - monkeys,castles, dragons, seeds, snow and stars. The level of difficulty matches Y3 T1/P4 T1. Although the poems are completely independent of other Oxford Reading Tree Stories, they contain the same themes as in the new edition Oxford Reading Tree Jackdaws Anthologies.The Teaching Notes booklet included in the pack offers a Vocabulary Chart listing Rhymes and Spelling patterns and Year 1-2 high frequency words for each of the individual poems within a title; a Curriculum coverage chart showing teaching objectives covered; and suggestions for Speaking andListening, Guided/Group reading, and Writing activities.

Trunk stories on the Oxford Reading tree always sell well, and the demand for more stories at Stage 4 level has resulted in new adventures and experiences for the ORT characters in six new Stage 4 More B stories. There are vocabulary and story links to the earlier Stage 4s, but with Nadim andAnneena, the Hindu and Muslim children, playing a more active part.
