As the school year ends, Alexia Tenent finds herself on the cusp of something never before achieved: normalcy. She has a friend, (who happens to be the adorable, SINGLE, cross-country star) Casey, a summer job working for her Aunt and a sound resolution to enjoy the summer in the city. Unfortunately, her dead parents have other plans. On her 17th birthday, Alexia receives a mysterious book from her murdered mother. And when questionable book collector Victor Grey shows up uninvited at Alexia’s door, she realizes she isn’t the only person interested in the secrets hidden inside the ancient tome. Alexia’s heritage, untold because of her parents untimely death, is full of magic, danger and duty. The family job to protect the Energy Balance, the harmony between magic and reality, has passed down generations to land squarely on Alexia’s (frankly, surprised) shoulders. As if that wasn’t enough, Alexia quickly discovers the Energy Balance is in danger from the two-faced Victor Grey and his clan of malicious Ringleaders. With best friend Casey in tow Alexia must travel to a secret world called The Realm in search of refuge from Victor Grey, clues about her own strange ancestry and a way to defend the balance between Light and Dark Energy. But even in The Realm, Alexia can’t avoid Victor forever. With time running out and Victor just one step behind, Alexia must find a way to unlock the power of her magic book in order to finish the job her ancestors began so long ago: to protect the Energy Balance and save the world.
