One day, while digging through the junk outside of town, Remarque discovers a mysterious gate and as he begins to uncover it, things get worse. But, he senses that his life is inexplicably linked to the gate and that he must open it. His grandfather forbids him from going anywhere near it and reveals that it is a portal to another place, Garden Side, a lush forest, but it is dangerous. It is in Garden Side that a great beast lives. The beast that is responsible for his parents' death.
