  • My Own Teddy Bear

    David Theron Shoemaker

language (David Theron Shoemaker, June 14, 2015)
Many of us, when we were children, were given a teddy bear or some other kind of stuffed animal. They became our friend, always nearby to give us security. When the lights were turned out at night, they were there, under the covers and in our arms. The next morning they would be there, waiting for us, even though they might have ended up spending the night on the floor beside our bed. In my case, it was a rabbit that stayed with me until he finally fell into pieces in the washing machine. This is a story of two very different children, who didn’t have a stuffed friend, but instead had a living teddy bear. One was born in Michigan and the other in California, but both were born into lives which looked impossible right from the beginning. This would have been their destiny if it hadn’t been for the two men in their lives who became more than that teddy bear. This is their story, one which ended in victory.
