Making the Grade is the fourth book in the “Uncle Matt Series.” Again, this humorous children's book was inspired by Matthew Van Stavern’s ever-growing three young nephews. He wrote this fourth book so a young person could read it easily and understand basic principles on how to “make the grade.” He believes that if you train children in the way they should go, they will follow the best paths, especially if someone they respect is setting that example.

He entered the United States Army and Commission from Officers Candidate School in December 2005 from Fort Benning, Georgia. He has deployed on multiple occasions and continues to share his life's experiences. He has written his fourth book in Uncle Matt’s Series. He continues to serve his country proudly. Ultimately, he wants his family and loved ones to know that he prays daily for their safety and every service member.
