A Life on a Farm

A man and a woman who lived in the same community got acquainted, dated about a year, fell in love, and got married. They purchased a farm and settled down. They purchased two horses. As the years went by there were eight children born. The family grew most of their food. The items that were purchased were, flour, sugar, Corn meal and salt. The items that were grown were tomatoes, onions, radishes, carrots, Green snap beans, corn, Irish potatoes, cucumbers, Black eye peas, Pinto beans, cane for Sorghum syrup, and peanuts. The kids worked from sunup until sundown in the field six days a week and were off on Sundays. Horses were purchased for plowing, hogs and chickens were for food, and cows were for milk and butter.
