  • I Can Take Care Of Mommy

    Pearlli Kang

    eBook
A little girl called Elli lives happily with her parents in the forest. One day her mom gets sick with a cold, and her dad goes out to get cold medicine but not before reminding Elli to take care of her mom. Elli immediately starts wondering what nice thing she can do for her mom to make her feel better. Elli asks three friends (Crow, Dog, and Bear) what to do to make her mom feel better, and they all tell her what they like the most (shiny things, big bone, and sweet honey). Elli and her friends wander around the backyard and forest to find those little treasures. But after they set up everything in the room, the beehive falls onto Mom’s bed. Angry bees come out and everybody panics, creating a big mess.Elli is upset but Mom comforts her, because all she needs is Elli’s love. Dad comes back, and they all have lunch together. Dad asks Elli what she would do if he got sick. Before Elli can answer, a little frog says that having a big crunchy fly makes him feel better. Everyone laughs and says, ‘Not for me.’ The inspiration behind the story ‘I CAN TAKE CARE OF MOMMY’ is one of author’s childhood memories. When she was a kid, she loved to take care of her mom whenever mom got sick. She would make a bowl of soup with crumbled biscuits and water, which probably tasted horrible! She also tried to make a wet towel to cool down mom’s forehead, but ended up spilling water all over the floor. But her mom never got angry or upset, and actually said that this was one of her happiest memories. The moral of the story is simple. Love is the most powerful medicine.
