  • I'm a Girl Hear my Roar

    Sarah LaRose Kane

Paperback (Sarah LaRose Kane, June 14, 2018)
I’m a Girl Hear my Roar is a powerfully written, interactive book that teaches girls (worldwide) that they have a voice the world needs to hear! On this inspirational journey, action is required—the reader is asked to use their voice by repeating the author, “with a roarish shout!” They repeat powerful, uplifting words, that can be used to stand up for themselves, demand respect, go for their dreams and make the world a better place. Twenty-nine trail blazing women from all over the world are introduced b/c of the way they used their voices to fight for equality and changed the course of history! “We look to them and with a grateful heart, we carry the torch to do our part.” And so, in the spirit of taking the torch, the girls are asked to take action again, by writing in a designated part of the book, what is their roar and what does it say? This book was inspired by the story of Claressa Shields—the United States’ first female Olympian boxer. She rose to the top of a male dominated sport in spite of being a victim of sexual abuse as a child. The goal of this book is to give girls permission to speak out about any issue, especially one of those of great importance. This is not just a book for girls, it’s a read that will encourage and educate both sexes, at any age—and will open up necessary discussions about how females should be treated.
