  • Horses Of The Light

    Leanne Owens

    eBook
The Sunhaven teens camp out with their horses on their outback Queensland property, but what should have been a fun few nights tracking down the mysterious Min Min lights becomes a life and death situation as they struggle to survive. Teens Lani and Dane Winter and their ten year old brother Matthew are joined by their cousin Amy and good friend, the ‘rodeo boy’, Brandon, as they explore the Sunhaven Hills on their horses, searching for signs of the mysterious Min Min lights. When three armed and dangerous escaped prisoners discover their camp, the teens have to think hard and fast to outsmart the men or risk being kidnapped or killed. The excitement grows as the Outback Riders work desperately to escape from the clutches of the violent men, using all their skills and knowledge to stay alive as they hope that the strangers to their land have vastly underestimated the magic of the outback. Following on the success of the first book in The Outback Riders series, ‘Horses Of The Sun, this book takes you further in to the lives, humour and thoughts of the Sunhaven teens as they cope with all life has to throw at them, and the romance starts to grow between Amy and Brandon. ‘Horses Of The Light’ takes you on an outback adventure with young people who dream of achieving so much, but who have to overcome many difficulties before their dreams come true. Written for the 8 – 15 year age group, but enjoyed by adults who appreciate an exciting and intriguing story about life in outback Australia. No sex or swearing, but there are elements of magic with the Min Min lights which exist in this region of Australia. Note: this is the U.S. version with American English spelling rather than my own Australian English spelling, though there are colloquialisms unique to Australian.Author Leanne Owens is an English teacher with a Masters in Education who has written for horse magazines for over three decades and who has also written and reported for Horse Talk TV. Having lived in the outback for many years and won over thirty national titles and many more state titles with her horses, she is well qualified to write about horse addicted teens growing up in the outback of Australia. You can continue reading about the Sunhaven crew in the third book in the series, Horses Of The Fire, and the fourth book, Horses Of The Rain, is due out in early 2018.
  • The Dawn of Day

    Friedrich Nietzsche, J. M. Kennedy

Paperback (Dover Publications, June 5, 2007)
One of the most important philosophers of the nineteenth century, Friedrich Nietzsche's influence on modern thought has extended beyond the borders of philosophy. His works have helped shape modern anthropology, psychology, theology, and sociology. Poets, novelists, and artists have also been touched by Nietzsche's powerful concepts and perspectives.Edited by a noted Nietzsche scholar, this authoritative compendium is a vital assembly of nearly all of Nietzsche's early works. Marking the advent of his mature philosophy, these aphorisms and prose poems examine the impulses that lead human beings to seek the comforts of religion, morality, metaphysics, and art. Nietzsche proposes greater individualism and personality development, addresses issues of society and family, and discusses visions of free spirits with the courage to be rid of idealist prejudices. Written in his distinctive, often paradoxical style, The Dawn of Day presents practically every theme touched upon in Nietzsche's later philosophical essays. It is an essential guide and a fundamental basis for the understanding of the great philosopher and his work.
