    The daughter of the former governor of British Columbia, Harris (1854-1933) decried the loss of customs and character by the Cowichan tribe of Vancouver in the late 1800s, and collected these 20 folktales both of the Cowichan and of the Cree, among whom were her ancestors. The 1901 edition was published by the Colonist Print and Publishing Company of Victoria, British Columbia. Editor Paul J. Lindholdt (American literature, composition, and environmental literature; Eastern Washington U.) has corrected grammatical and factual errors, but otherwise preserved the text and the illustrations by Margaret C.
