  • Great Moments in Pro Football.

    Comp. Hollander, Zander

Hardcover (Random House (Merchandising), June 15, 1969)
Review by Charles Ashbacher: In this book 14 of the greatest games are described. The focus alternates between the game and the exploits of the player being featured. Which is as it should be. Football is a team game more than most; all eleven players on the field must do the right job at the right time. One failure by one person on one play can completely change the complexion of a game. Greats such as Jim Brown, Y. A. Tittle, and Ernie Nevers are featured. Pivotal games such as the first NFL title game in 1933, the first Super Bowl in 1967 and the Jets victory in Super Bowl III are described. The book is written at the level of the late middle or high school student and there is no great embellishment of the facts.
