It has been a year since Jack and the old man razed the mansion ruins to the ground, bringing an end to an ancient curse and freeing the resident boggart; a year since they came to the attention of the mansion's previous owners: the Order of Stheno: a cult of necromancers, vowed to retrieve the grimoire: a book of spells stolen by the boggart in retribution for its imprisonment and the acts of unspeakable evil it was forced to witness. When the boggart moves into the old man's cottage, Jack is warned to stay away as it is only a matter of time before the necromancers come looking for whoever broke the curse and aided the theft of the grimoire. As the months pass by without incident, Jack is lulled into a false sense of security, convinced that the Order wouldn't risk revealing their existence by seeking revenge on a thirteen-year-old schoolboy and his crazy grandfather. But when he experiences a demonic attack late one night, denial becomes terrifying reality. Suddenly Jack and the Old man are forced to go on the run, desperate to find and expert on the occult who can help them escape a powerful entity, summoned from the abyss to recuperate not only the grimoire but also their immortal souls.Their search for help takes them on an adventure neither one could ever have imagined; travelling back in time to meet a literary legend and authority on folklore, then fairy-led into the middle-kingdom; all the while, barely one step ahead of a demon bounty hunter.
