  • The Adventures of Goldbrown

    Mary Hudson, Laurie Hudson

    eBook
The Adventures of Goldbrown is a children's fantasy book about of a fairy-like butterfly named Goldbrown. Goldbrown lives in a garden along with his cousins, Mr. Peacock, Mr. Tortishell, and Mr. Red Admiral. Every Autumn, Goldbrown and his cousins gather nectar in their buttercups to take with them on their long journey to sunny California. California is warm, and butterflies do not like the cold weather of the east. When it came time to leave on this long journey west, the butterflies only had three days to gather their nectar for the trip. Cousin Peacock, Tortishell, and Red Admiral were very hard workers, and each day they made great progress in filling their buttercups. But Goldbrown was lazy. He preferred to sleep all day. And when he did go out to gather nectar, he always returned with an empty buttercup and a very full tummy. Gold brown always ate all the nectar he was able to gather, and did not save any for the long trip. He also got himself into so much trouble. He almost was eaten by a large green frog by the name of Cordell. He snuck into a honey bee nest, and ate all the bee's honey, only to find that he became stuck in the honey and couldn't get free. Finally, his cousins rescue Goldbrown, only to find they too became stuck to Goldbrown from the sticky honey. But in the end, it was Goldbrown's great appetite that saved the day, and all the Monarch Butterflies were able to fly to California....appearing in the sky as a beautiful colorful flying carpet.
