  • Ghost Stories to Tell in the Dark

Anthony Masters, Brian Bascle, Audible Studios

Audible Audiobook (Audible Studios, May 28, 2013)
The storm rages. They huddle closer round the flames as the wind howls in the night. Another ghost story begins. But is the old house really deserted, or is something screaming in the darkness? Do you dare to find out? Anthony Masters is the author of eleven works of adult fiction - notably, Conquering Heroes (1969), Red Ice (1986, with Nicholas Barker), The Men (1997), The Good and Faithful Servant (1999) and Lifers (2001) - and, prior to his death, was in the process of completing another, Dark Bridges, which he thought would be his best. Many of these works carry deep insights into social problems that he gained, over four decades, by helping the socially excluded, be it by running soup kitchens for drug addicts or by campaigning for the civic rights of gypsies and other ethnic minorities. Masters is also known for his eclectic range of non-fiction titles. It ranged from the biographies of such diverse personalities as Hannah Senesh (The Summer that Bled, 1972), Mikhail Bakunin (Bakunin: the Father of Anarchism, 1974), Nancy Astor (Nancy Astor: A Life, 1981) and the British secret service chief immortalized by Ian Fleming in his James Bond books (The Man Who Was M: the Life of Maxwell Knight, 1984), to a history of the notorious asylum Bedlam (Bedlam, 1977).

  • Ghost in the Dark

    Jim Laughter

eBook (Axia Books, Feb. 3, 2019)
After reading Jim Laughter's Galactic Axia Adventure Series, I couldn't resist when he asked me to read Ghost in the Dark. I love a good ghost story, but this one took me by surprise. I expected to be scared, but instead I was inspired. I met families unlike any I'd ever met before, and they touched my heart. I experienced the grief felt by a mother that loses a child, and the joy when that child is found. I reveled in acts of courage, honesty, and integrity. I shared the triumph of victory, and I cried in defeat. I loved meeting Empress Ane, Mary Ebilizer, Myra Alor, Bobby, and Grandpa Gary. Ghost in the Dark is a masterpiece that will grip your heart and never let go. It will inspire young and old readers alike to always follow their dreams. I'm looking forward to editions in both the Adventure and Ghost series. Dennis McDonaldBest-Selling Author of 13 Nightmares and Ebon Moon

    Julia Sculthorpe

A boy and a ghost solve the mystery of the how the ghost died and get justice for the ghost. She lay on her back, feeling the rain slide through her. She raised her hand and examined it. It still looked solid. She felt it with the other hand. It felt solid."So this is what it feels like to be dead. I am real to myself and not to the rain."She sat up, held out her hand, and watched, in dazed amusement, the rain falling through her hand.
