  • From Mountain to Mountain

    Hitjo Garst, Audrey F. Marcus

Paperback (George Ronald Publisher Ltd, Aug. 16, 1996)
Here is a book which young people will find a valuable addition to their Bahá'í libraries. From Mountain to Mountain: Stories about Bahá'u'lláh relates the history of the Bahá'í Faith from the childhood of the Báb to the Ascension of Bahá'u'lláh. Written in a simple style and suitable for use in children's classes, the book covers all the significant events in the life of Bahá'u'lláh. Each of the forty-one chapters recalls one episode in the evolution of the Bahá'í Faith, and well-known figures such as Mullá Husayn, Vahíd and Badí' are introduced. The book brings together those strands from Bahá'í history which reveal how Bahá'u'lláh's exile from Persia to the Holy Land was part of the Plan of God, foretold by the Prophet Micah: 'in that day, in which they shall come to you . . . from sea to sea and from mountain to mountain.'

  • Mountains: Beyond the Clouds

    Tim Hall

    Hardcover (teNeues, Oct. 15, 2016)
Mountains, one of nature's greatest masterpieces, in their rugged beauty, breathtaking views from the top, clear air, green pastures, mountain lakes and glaciers, have captivated mankind all along. Climbing mountains or just gazing at their majestic splendor causes us to slow down and contemplate, maybe even giving us a little serenity. Photographer Tim Hall beautifully captures the powerful solace of mountains in his images. He often chooses to shoot in dramatic weather, making his work and the photographed mountains look even more stunning and transcendent. The intention to strike an emotional or spiritual chord is evident in much of his landscape work, which is inspired by Rothko and Turner. The influence of painting in his work stems from his studies of art history at Manchester University. Mountains - Beyond the Clouds presents the extensive Alpine mountain range, including famous landmarks such as the Mont Blanc, the Matterhorn, and the Dolomites.

  • From the Clouds to the Mountains

    Paul] Verne, Jules [& Verne

Hardcover (William F. Gill and Company, March 15, 1874)
Boston: William F. Gill and Company, 1874. First Illustrated Edition in English. Translated by A.L. Alger. 12mo, 285 pp. Terra-cotta cloth with gilt devices, one of the lighter-than air balloon's gondola separating, and the other three mountain climbers ascending Mt. Blanc. Decorative black and gilt lettering and filigree on cover and spine. Slate coated endpapers. Illustrations, including frontispiece, from wood engravings. Editor's preface [not found on other English editions]. This much-sought version of the collection of five Verne stories (the last, "The Fortieth French Ascent of Mt. Blanc", was written by his brother Paul] may, in fact, be the first collected book edition of any sort in English. While Osgood's edition, entitled Doctor Ox [etc] was announced and registered in May and June 1874 respectively, no copies were deposited until July 17th. This Gill edition was announced as "now ready" on July 11th [ref. Taves & Michaluk V012]. Interestingly, Gill's announcement referred to a quarto size, of which I've never seen an example; presumably, a decision was made in favor of the known size, about 7.3" x 5.6". In any case, a popular translation, one which was followed by a "New Holiday Edition" and a "popular edition". Condition: better than unusual for this title, a sharp very good plus, Slight shelf wear and soiling, spine ends and corners lightly bumped, faint marginal at several pages; Âľ" tear on top edge of title page, small paper residue on front pastedown. Very sharp, bright and tight for this title. Stories included: A Drama In Mid-Air; Dr. Ox's Hobby; Master Zachary; A Winter Among the Ice-Fields; and The Fortieth French Ascent of Mt.Blanc. L68

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, March 1, 2015)
Teak Frain is one of the last Light Skins left on earth. Taunted, tormented, and even injured, "Teak the Freak" has endured more than most sixteen year olds. She is mad. Extremely mad. She clearly bears the Mark of Power on her cheek, but deep down, Teak knows it is all a lie. Shunned and tortured by her teammates, Teak chooses to go it alone, and that is perfectly fine with her. When a series of events launches her on a perilous journey, Teak must choose to depend on others...or die. When two boys enter the scene, one irritating and the other mesmerizing, Teak wonders if she has a shot at a normal life. But will her lack of Power ruin it? This post-apocalyptic novel, Book 1 in the Mark of Power Series, is riveting with suspense, action, betrayal, and the brimming hope of romance.
