Crown Prince Lucien has spent his life pretending to be a flirtatious idiot in order to manipulate his courts and hide his deficiencies. His acting backfires, however, when his father orders an enchantress to turn him into a frog for his own safety after he narrowly escapes an assassination plot. Servant. Capable. Expendable. Strong-willed Ariane is all of these things, which makes her the perfect escort for the newly transformed Frog-Prince Lucien. Carting the lazy prince around on a velvet cushion is the last thing Ariane wants to do when it seems like the dark magic that has been plaguing her world for years is winning. But when a pair of rogue mages attack Prince Lucien, Ariane realizes the threat of darkness is much closer than she thought. Even worse, she finds herself drawn to the prince and noticing that perhaps he is not as foolish as he acts…Can Ariane break the spell on Lucien's body and his heart and convince him to step into his role as the Crown Prince, or will the mages kill them both?THE FROG PRINCE is a fairy tale retelling and the ninth book of the TIMELESS FAIRY TALES series. Filled with witty banter, fat frogs, and political intrigue, it can be enjoyed as an individual stand-alone book, but will be most enjoyable if read with other books from the series. • The Frog Prince

Brothers Grimm, Cheryl Bassett, British Literature Audiobooks

Audiobook (British Literature Audiobooks, Jan. 23, 2019)
"The Frog Prince" or "Iron Henry" is a fairy tale, best known through the Brothers Grimm’s written version; traditionally it is the first story in their collection. - Although the story is best known today through the Grimm Brothers’ rendition of it, parts of it may extend back until at least Roman times; a version of the story is apparently referred to in Petronius’s Satyricon, in which the character Trimalchio remarks that, "qui fuit rana nunc est rex" ("The man who was once a frog is now a king."). Other scholars, however, argue that this may actually be a jab at the emperor Nero, who was often mockingly compared to a frog. In the tale, a spoiled princess reluctantly befriends the Frog Prince (meeting him after dropping a gold ball into a pond), who magically transforms into a handsome prince. Although in modern versions the transformation is invariably triggered by the princess kissing the frog, in the original Grimm version of the story the frog's spell was broken when the princess threw it against a wall in disgust...
  • The Frog Prince

Brothers Grimm, Laura Paton, Naxos AudioBooks

Audible Audiobook (Naxos AudioBooks, Nov. 25, 2013)
This is a story from the Grimm's Fairy Tales collection. Here are some of the most enchanting fairy stories of all time. The Brothers Grimm conjure up a world of fantasy, hope and good fortune where the princess meets and marries the right prince (even if he once was a frog), and where the cruel witch, the arrogant wife and the greedy wolf get their comeuppance. It is a magical world which we must all inhabit at one time in our lives and which are as important in this computer age as ever before.
  • The Frog-Prince

The Brothers Grimm, George Newbern, Dreamscape Media, LLC

Audiobook (Dreamscape Media, LLC, Sept. 25, 2018)
In The Frog Prince, a spoiled princess grudgingly befriends a frog after a chance meeting at a pond. Forced against her will to spend time with the creature, he is ultimately revealed to be a handsome prince under a spell when she hurls him against the wall. In many other versions of the story, the curse is broken by a kiss or a night spent on the princess' pillow. It is possible that the idea for the story goes back to Roman times when the emperor Nero was often mockingly compared to a frog.
