    Mrs Alexander

Paperback (Forgotten Books, June 11, 2012)
Mr. Eiddell was more pliable than his daughter expected. She had prudently told him of Madame Falks invitation in Ogilvie spresence, when they were dining with that gentleman at one of the pleasant restaurants on the Champs Elysees the same day that Madame Falk had left town. I suppose you would like to go? said Eiddell, who was sipping a glass of excellent Sauterne. You fancy the joys of a rural retreat! Believe me you will be bored to death! Of course you find our good friend a congenial companion, I do not; which makes a great difference. You and I like women of a different calibre. Hey, Ogilvie? VOL. • Found Wanting, a Novel, Vol. 1 of 2

    Mrs Alexander

Paperback (Forgotten Books, June 11, 2012)
In one of the older, narrower streets of Paris, between the Champs Elysees and the Rue St. Honore, a fiacre had drawn up one sharp, frosty afternoon, at the entrance of a large house, the handsome portecochere of which stood partly open, showing a paved yard, with a grass-plot, in the centre of which stood a large acacia-tree, now brown and bare. From the fiacre descended a lady, no longer young, who wore a cloak of velvet and sable; a black bonnet with crimson feathers fitted becomingly over the dark glossy bandeaux of her hair, suiting her complexion and keen dark eyes; she paid the driver with a delicately gloved hand, and entered. Madame Falk? she said, in a questioning tone to the concierge, who was darning stockings just inside the glass door of her lodge. Is out, madame, said that functionary, who had risen to speak with the visitor.(Typographical errors above are due to OCR software and don't occur in the book.)About the Publisher Forgotten Books is a publisher of historical writings, such as: Philosophy, Classics, Science, Religion, History, Folklore and Mythology.Forgotten Books' Classic Reprint Series utilizes the latest technology to regenerate facsimiles of historically important writings.
