  • True Fairy Stories

Mary E. Bakewell, Roger L. Jackson, Goatshead Castle Productions

Audible Audiobook (Goatshead Castle Productions, April 3, 2019)
Sadly Mary E. Bakewell only ever wrote one book: True Fairy Stories, which was published in 1902. However, she lived a very inspirational life, most of it in the frontier west during the 1920s. The little town she lived in was poverty stricken, and Mary did her best to bring relief, solidarity, and a little pleasure to the people of the community, and each year held a Christmas party for all the children. Mary was also a bit of a rebel and instituted services, quite often having to defend her actions against the Bishop. But despite the poor conditions, harsh blizzards, a smallpox epidemic, and initial unfriendliness of the townsfolk, Mary eventually came to love the home she had chosen, and ran a Sunday school along with participating in the Women's Guild. So it is with great pride that Goatshead Castle Productions presents: True Fairy Stories written by Mary E. Bakewell - first published in 1902. This book has long been out of print.... Although, I cannot for the life of me think why. For it teaches young minds the importance of nature and the wonderful creatures we are fortunate enough to share this world with. Everyone can all enjoy and learn from the stories within this audiobook, even an old witch like me!

It is so easy to give up doing something if you are told you are no good at it. Lots of artistic and creative children are stopped in their tracks due to negative criticism. This book goes on a simple journey that inspires Ida to overcome being put down by her sister Dora and still go on to dance.Anyone could have helped her with positive praise but the solution to her lack of self esteem is to be inspired by a dancing fairy. With colourful and beautifully illustrated pictures this is a book for all children who need inspiration not to give up when others put them down. The book is designed for kindle and all devices with a kindle app.
