Historic ABC’s started out as an idea when I learned that I was going to be a father. There are many ABC books out there that are good and educational. Kids should know that A is for Apple. But I had a hard time finding anything that said A is for Aten or Attila the Hun, Atlatl, Aristotle, and others. History is one of my passions and it was something that I wanted to share with my son.The purpose of these books is not to give a complete list or to give every known fact about the subject. The purpose is to introduce the readers both old and young to a subject in hopes that their interest will be sparked and they will want to learn more on their own. It’s supposed to act as a starting place.Egypt was a powerful empire of many gods and goddesses. These deities are among the oldest in the world. Several of them even got adopted into the Greek and Roman pantheons. The popularity of these gods was not even stopped by the coming of monotheistic Christianity. Despite the fact that the symbols for these gods have never truly disappeared most of our knowledge of them did when the Ancient Egyptian Language died.With the discovery of the Rosetta Stone their popularity has increased. They have become the stars of fantasy and science fiction stories alike. The stories of the old Egyptian gods and goddesses are once again being taught and are giving insight into one of the world’s oldest cultures.
