When ducky got up off her eggs and Toni counted them, she decided that her project for the summer would be taking care of the duck and her ducklings when they were hatched. When Toni told her mother what her summer project would be, her mother was very pleased. Toni had never volunteered for a project before. When Toni made her bed and took a bath without being told, her mother knew that she was really serious about taking care of the family of ducks. And so the adventure for a little girl from California began in a little town called Miramar in Florida. When the ducklings almost got run over by cars, Toni sprang into action, and with the help of her mother and aunt, made signs that motivated the residents to help take care of the ducks in their area.
