Frank Baum’s beloved Wizard of Oz series continues to delight and enchant readers today. In Ozma of Oz, Dorothy is traveling aboard a boat with her Uncle Henry, when she is washed overboard in a storm along with a yellow chicken named Billina. After being chased by Wheelers, evil creatures with wheels for hands and feet, Dorothy and Billina meet Tik-Tok, a mechanical man who informs them that they are in the Land of Ev. Tik-Tok then takes the two to the ruling leader of the land, a vain princess with detachable heads. When Dorothy refuses to give the spoiled royal her head for her collection, the princess throws the girl into her tower dungeon. Luckily, Princess Ozma and her Royal Court of Oz are on their way! • Glinda of Oz: Glinda, the good Sorceress of Oz

    L. Frank Baum

Paperback (CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform, Nov. 14, 2017)
Glinda of Oz by L. Frank Baum. The Wizard of Oz Series. Glinda of Oz is the fourteenth Land of Oz book written by children's author L. Frank Baum, published on July 10, 1920. It is the last book of the original Oz series, which was later continued by other authors. Like most of the Oz books, the plot features a journey through some of the remoter regions of Oz; though in this case the pattern is doubled: Dorothy and Ozma travel to stop a war between the Flatheads and Skeezers; then Glinda and a cohort of Dorothy's friends set out to rescue them. The book was dedicated to Baum's second son, Robert Stanton Baum. Glinda, the good Sorceress of Oz, sat in the grand court of her palace, surrounded by her maids of honor—a hundred of the most beautiful girls of the Fairyland of Oz. The palace court was built of rare marbles, exquisitely polished. Fountains tinkled musically here and there; the vast colonnade, open to the south, allowed the maidens, as they raised their heads from their embroideries, to gaze upon a vista of rose-hued fields and groves of trees bearing fruits or laden with sweet-scented flowers. At times one of the girls would start a song, the others joining in the chorus, or one would rise and dance, gracefully swaying to the music of a harp played by a companion. And then Glinda smiled, glad to see her maids mixing play with work.
