Books in Vex Hex 1 series

Opening a book can get you into trouble. A LOT OF TROUBLE. Oh, they might look all harmless from the outside. Just cardboard and paper. But that’s not the problem. It’s what’s inside that counts. Ink. That’s what does it. And you just never know where you will end up. You see, when Mini found the Recipe Book in the attic of her aunt’s house she thought it was an ordinary book. A plain old recipe book. Boy, was she wrong. But, even worse, she set about making the recipe it contained. (Not a good idea...) She thought it would make something she could eat (seriously!) despite the fact it clearly said ‘A Recipe for Disaster’. She never imagined a chocolate tornado would soon be sucking her out of her aunt’s kitchen. See? Opening books can definitely get you into trouble. And you’ll have to open this one to find out what happens next. But at least you’ve been warned... there’s plenty of trouble ahead!

DISASTER AHEAD! No seriously, this time there really is a disaster ahead. If you thought the whole chocolate-vortex, nasty-pirates, psycho-squid episode was a disaster then guess again. Not even close! And that’s because we didn’t get to the end of the story. But it’s no wonder. You can’t get to your destination until you have made the journey to reach it. Right at this moment, Rufus, Mini, Jackson and Vee are going back to Corsair’s Cove. They think they are going to face the dreadfully smelly Captain Savage and the extraordinarily clean and terrifying Pirate King. And, of course, they are. But that’s not the half of it. Arriving back on No Man’s Island they find that things were not as they seemed... In fact, the Recipe Book has A LOT of surprises in store!

ALIEN ALERT! Rufus knows what it’s like to shapeshift. And the others are about to find out. Only this recipe is quite out of this world. Think you can guess what animal Rufus will turn into now? What on Earth could he possibly be? Well, they aren’t even on Earth! A Recipe for Galactic Goblins has landed them on a little old red planet that goes by the name of Mars. And some no-good goblins have taken over. Except they call themselves Gooblins and two of the most dastardly Gooblins ever to roam the universe have set up an intergalatic fastfood chain which is ruining the lives of an entire planet! All because of one secret, highly addictive ingredient. Mini and Vee will be enslaved... Jackson will fall victim... And a catastrophic discovery will mean they need to get outta there. Fast!

Mummy Warning! And we’re not talking about parents here. We’re talking about mummies. The ones from Egypt. That are all wrapped in bandages. The, um, dead kind. Well at least they’re supposed to be dead... but there’s always someone who has other ideas. You see, The Book of the Dead has been stolen from Karnak Temple... and someone known only as the Mummy Master is currently plotting to bring an army of Mutant Mummies back to unnatural life... with only the most dishonourable of intentions. And unfortunately for Mini, Jackson, Vee and Rufus ‘A Recipe For Mummified Mutants’ has landed them in Ancient Egypt, smack bang in the middle of this mess, where a determined princess named Neferteeni thinks they are the answer to her prayers. And while everyone (except Jackson) would rather get the heck out of there, it soon becomes clear that the next recipe and the mummy mystery are closely intertwined...

DANGER - POISON! By opening this book you will be exposing yourself to werewolf poison. Plain and simple. All care should be taken to avoid contamination but in the unfortunate event that werewolf transformation begins to take place, the author of this book shall accept no liability for damages. Full stop. You see werewolf transformations can result in extreme chaos. As Mini, Jackson, Vee and Rufus discover when they meet three sister witches facing a peculiar pickle... werewolf poison is mysteriously seeping through their acidic veins. And this is quite an inconvenience. The witches have only just met the Foster children, after all, and are very keen to have them for dinner (in the worst possible sense...). Oh dear. Bad enough to find yourself held prisoner by one witch... much worse when there’s not one but three witches... and downright terrible when those three witches are morphing into werewolves!

One little bite won’t hurt, will it? Well that depends on whether you are talking about chocolate cake or Viperous Vampires. And if it’s Viperous Vampires, then YES. Not only will it hurt, you’ll also start experiencing some rather troubling changes. Fangs and viper tail included. Mini, Jackson, Vee and Rufus don’t know it yet but they have just made ‘A Recipe For Viperous Vampires’ and they are about to land in Transylvania where two unsavory types are causing all manner of trouble with their operations at Blue Vein Inc. One of the children will get quite a fright... Fangs and viper tail included! And the others must race to find a solution before nightfall... So they think they have until sunset... But darkness is coming much faster than they imagined!
