They decide to help by turning the Crab Picking Festival into a clothing and furniture drive. As they plan for the big event, Ben asks the question they are all wondering, “Do you think people will help them out?” "Helping out" is book #9 in the Uncle Rocky, Fireman series of the Glad To Do It! collection of children's picture books. Helping Out is based upon a real response conducted in summer of 2017 by the Cobb Island Volunteer Fire Department and EMS of Charles County, Maryland. They responded to and extinguished a house fire in their small close-knit community. They fire completely destroyed the family’s possessions. The fire fighters were so moved by the loss that they organized a furniture and clothing collection drive to help the family get back on their feet. This book is dedicated to First Responders everywhere (Federal, State, County, and City) who have decided they want to help their fellow citizens and have sacrificed significant personal and family time to become trained and certified to do just that. There are many alive today because of their caring.
