Soon it becomes obvious that they need help and with Coronia, a lonely mermaid, they set off on a quest to find the machine that generates the Divide. They go in search of the legendary Lady of Woods Lake, a mysterious woman who holds great knowledge. From the Lost Forty, to the waters of Lake of the Woods, and to the depths of the Soudan Mine, their journey takes them across the lands of northern Minnesota. Little do they know that when they reach their journey’s end, a terrible sacrifice will be demanded of them all.

When her trip is interrupted by a strange man who gives her an old compass and an even older map, things start to spiral out of control around her very fast. When catastrophic events begin hap­pen­ing in Duluth and someone tries to kidnap her, she finds an ally in Jake, the boy of her dreams. Together they are offered the chance to find Jane’s sister who disappeared over a year ago and take part in the biggest adventure of their lives.
