Nancy Drew, 18-year-old amateur detective, is a classic mystery series for young girls. In each story, Nancy has a mystery to solve along with help from her father and friends: Helen, Bess, George, Ned, Burt, and Dave. Cited as a formative influence by a number of prominent women, from Supreme Court Justices Sandra Day O'Connor and Sonia Sotomayor to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and former First Lady Laura Bush, Nancy Drew continues to provide a model for young readers of determination, courage, and problem solving. She makes friends easily, garners the admiration of the chief of police, gets confessions out of criminals without breaking and sweat, and most of all, she's her father's daughter. Over the decades Nancy has evolved in response to the changes in american culture and tastes.
