Wild horses are very rare these days, but once a year in Westphalia, Germany, a great herd is rounded up from the range and the woods. Some are sold at auction and two are raffled off. Jan wanted to be a rider of the wild horses and makes friends with a pony that he does not realize is crippled. The sensitive boy saves it from slaughter and he got his big wish!
