  • Story of a Soul: The Autobiography of St. Therese of Lisieux

    Therese de Lisieux, John Clarke

    Paperback (I C S Publications, Jan. 19, 1996)
Translated from the critical edition by John Clarke, OCD, 3rd ed. (1997). Includes general and biblical index, with 8 pages of photos. Two and a half years before her death in 1897 at the age of 24, as ThÊrèse Martin began writing down her childhood memories at the request of her blood sisters in the Lisieux Carmel, few could have guessed the eventual outcome. Yet this Story of my soul, first published in 1898 in a highly edited version, quickly became a modern spiritual classic, read by millions and translated into dozens of languages around the world. Decades later, in response to growing requests from scholars and devotees of the Saint, a facsimile edition of the manuscripts appeared, along with more popular French editions of what the Saint had actually written. Here, expressed with all of ThÊrèse's original spontaneity and fervor, we rediscover the great themes of her spirituality: confidence and love, the little way, abandonment to God's merciful love, and her mission in the church and world today. Father John Clarke's acclaimed translation, first published in 1975 and now accepted as the standard throughout the English-speaking world, is a faithful and unaffected rendering of ThÊrèse's own words, from the original manuscripts. This new edition, prepared for the centenary of the Saint's death, includes a select bibliography of recent works in English on ThÊrèse, along with a new referencing system now widely used in studies of her doctrine.

  • On the Origin of Species

Charles Darwin, Philippe Duquenoy, A.R.N. Publications

    Audiobook (A.R.N. Publications, June 1, 2017)
First published in the 19th century, On the Origin of Species is one of the most important and controversial books ever written on human origins. Darwin's work is the cornerstone of the theory of evolution and is as important today as it was when it was released nearly 160 years ago. Few published works have had the kind of impact on society as Origin of Species. Not only did Darwin's work change how the world viewed human origins but it had a tremendous impact on other areas of human society, including theology and philosophy. In Origin of Species, Darwin presents his well-documented findings, supporting the concept that all life evolved over time through a process of natural selection and survival of the fittest. Today, his theories are the foundation of the life sciences and after 20 years of research concluded by analogy that all life evolved from a common ancestor.

The Brothers Karamazov explores many different philosophical ideologies about family and religion and tests the strength of familial bonds, even those that are newly forged.
  • The Pursuit of God

A.W. Tozer, Alastair Cameron, A.R.N. Publications

    Audible Audiobook (A.R.N. Publications, Dec. 11, 2015)
The Pursuit of God is a deeply spiritual book that focuses on forming a relationship with God through Christianity. In the first chapter, Tozer suggests that in order to know God, one must strip down to the bare necessities and focus entirely on the pursuit. Although putting God first can be difficult, Tozer asserts that doing so will effectively bring God into one's life. The book makes several references to the Bible, and it discusses some of the main points in eloquent detail. In order for God to be a part of one's life, all selfishness and desires must be put aside. Having too many belongings and desires can put a barrier between God and the individual. Tozer states that since God is everywhere, individuals must always have God as the top priority. Through loving God, the individual will naturally love themselves and others without selfishness or pride. The burdens of pride and selfishness, as well as any other burdens, are meant to be freed by coming to Jesus. The book offers a real look into Christianity, as well as explaining conceptual elements in the pursuit of finding God.
