  • The Bean Queen's Cookbook

    Karen R. Hurd, Jeanne Hutchinson

Paperback (Trafford Publishing, Sept. 24, 2009)
Since 1994 when Karen Hurd opened her nutritional practice, she knew that she would need to publish a cookbook at some point. As the consumption of legumes is a critical part of most every person's plan for healing, the need for a bean cookbook became evident. There are other bean cookbooks that have been published; however, the use of sugar, molasses, honey, or other sweeteners are prolific in those recipes. These are additions that Karen could not endorse because they do not add but rather subtract from a person's health. At the request of her clients and in light of the need for a cookbook that gave innovative recipes that were unquestionably healthy, she began the process of creating a cookbook. Over 300 recipes have been created to bring you and your family great health by the eating of beans, one of our richest sources of soluble fiber. Appetizers, soups, salads, main dishes, snacks, hummus and spreads, side dishes, and bean breads are all a part of this excellent work. With confidence the reader of this recipe book will be able to make delicious food that is 100% good for them-no need to weed out questionable ingredients. The recipes are easy to follow and easy to make.

  • Always My Twin

    Valerie R. Samuels, Najah Clemmons

Paperback (Trafford Publishing, Jan. 5, 2006)
Always My Twin , for young children who have experienced the death of their twin sibling, is a book for any child whose twin died before birth, after birth or as a young child. The story is based on the author's own experience of losing a newborn twin daughter in 2002. The book tells the story through the eyes of a young girl whose twin sister dies shortly after their births. She begins her story with sharing the womb with her twin, the joy of her family anticipating the arrival of twins, the family's pain of losing one of their precious babies, and her own expressions of grief for her twin's death. The surviving twin also shares with the audience the precious ways in which she and her family remember her twin throughout the year. Included are interactive pages for the reader to respond to with pictures, identifying feelings and providing family information. Heartache, healing and hope are evident through the author's words and the illustrator's artwork in telling the story of loss and love. Whether twins were identical or fraternal, separated by death at birth or years later, Always My Twin will find a special place in the hearts of surviving twin children and their families. A list of support resources for families who have experienced the death of a baby (including the death of a twin or higher multiple) is available in the back of the book.

  • My Father's Words

    Charles Turk

Paperback (Trafford Publishing, April 26, 2000)
This work is the first-hand account of the oppression and persecution of the millions subjected to the unprecedented dictatorships of Hitler and Stalin. Ranging from the personal humiliation and political ostracism of his family for being peasant farmers, to the grand scale of dehumanizing institutions and methods of both Communism and Nazism, Charles TurkĂs My FatherĂs Words places human faces on the millions of silent victims of 70 years of totalitarian rule in Eastern Europe. However, this story does not end there. Unable to speak or read English, Turk escaped to Austria in 1956 and immigrated to the U.S. as a refugee from the Hungarian Uprising. Crossing the Atlantic Ocean was the easiest length of his personal journey, bolstered only by his faith in God and the wise words of his strict and humble father.
