  • Pride and Precipitation

    Heather Horrocks

language (Word Garden Press, Jan. 14, 2014)
PG-RATED FUN that's been professionally edited. Pride and Precipitation is #1 of the Chick Flick Clique romantic comedy series and Book #2 is Regally Blonde. Written by USA Today Bestselling Author Heather Horrocks. PRIDE AND PRECIPITATION (Chick Flick Clique #1) Breezy Jones is crazy about the weather, rain or shine, which makes her job as the local television station’s meteorologist perfect. She’s even hoping the new buyers of her Aspen Grove station will make some positive changes. That’s before she meets the attractive new general manager, Noah Drake, who is determined to repackage everything—including Breezy’s down-home delivery and casual, girl-next-door appearance that seems too Pollyanna for him. He replaces her with a high-powered diva weathercaster and makes Breezy her off-screen assistant. With a flood of angry emails from the community, plummeting ratings, and incessant demands from the diva, it doesn’t take long for Noah to see which way the wind is blowing. Will the station survive the competitive clash between pride and precipitation? More importantly, can their blossoming attraction survive? This is a novella of about 170 pages. The paperback version will be available soon. NEW RELEASES: If you enjoyed this book, consider signing up for my new releases email list! A fun, light trip through small-town news, this book pulled you into the story. With several fun side characters, the story left itself open for many other interlocked stories. With a fun plot and sweet characters, it's a refreshing bit of fun and sweet romance. This one made me smile and definitely made me laugh at several points. With a quick wit and some good conflict, the characters had me falling in love along with them. Definitely a good book to take on vacation or snuggle up on a cold winter night. I am loving her foray into the paranormal realm with Moonchuckle Bay. I like the idea of a place where paranormal can live in peace, and in the open, while tourists think it is all part of the town's movie productions. … I found myself wishing Moonchuckle Bay was a real town, just for all of the funny gimmicks that they have for the tourists. I will definitely be on the lookout for more books in this series. Content: clean (some kissing, mild violence, smelly trolls)YOU MUST READ!! AND I MUST RE-READ!! (Kindle Customer) I love Heather Horrocks, and this book is no exception, I like that you can see where its going without it being completely predictable. Such a great story line, I look forward to hearing more about these townsmonsters :) in Moonchuckle Bay.REVIEW OF BAH, HUMBUG (Christmas Street Romantic Comedy Christmas Novella #1): “This isn't a book; it’s magic. What could be a sappy Christmas story turns into a wonderful, magical, bring-the-family-together Christmas story. I wasn't merely reading Lexi and Kyle's story, I was there with them, being part of their story. I came up for breath only when I was done with the book (I read it at one sitting).

  • U.N.I.Q.U.E. Kids: Growing My Leadership Garden

    Debra J. Slover, Darlene Warner

Paperback (Leader Garden Press, Sept. 13, 2009)
Using the classic model of the Ken Blanchard/Spencer Johnson-style business fable and adapting it to younger audiences, Debra Slover has created a sweetly illustrated book that empowers children, steers them toward positive patterning, and shows each child how to plant and nurture the seeds of good leadership while ridding their metaphorical gardens of the "weeds" (negative qualities that can harm children's self-esteem). Debra Slover teaches children to sprout, grow, and nurture their leader within by developing positive thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. For educators, kids, parents, and grandparents, U.N.I.Q.U.E. Kids facilitates positive change in homes, schools, and beyond. --Don Young, retired elementary school principal The main character, a sheep named Hugh, suffers from low self-esteem, stemming from an environment where he was often criticized and never appreciated. When he stumbles into Leadership Farm, where a more open and loving way of being is the norm, he learns from human farm staffers Leda and Aristotle, as well as other animals like Annabelle the dog, Blossom the cow, and Robert the rooster, how to develop his own leadership qualities, and how to tend his own Leadership Garden. A central mnemonic is the acronym, U.N.I.Q.U.E.: Understanding, Nurturing, Inventive, Quality, Unstoppable, Expression. Taking one letter at a time, Slover walks the reader through creating and encouraging the life-affirming, esteem-building, leadership skills characteristic, and harnessing the six qualities together to form a "Leadership Garden Legacy" based on mutual respect, cooperation, teamwork, and other values. Kids who've been bullied may respond especially well. U.N.I.Q.U.E. Kids is designed as a learning aid with the active participation of grownups who can read the book with a child (8-12) and provide mentoring and reinforcement in its concepts. Grandparents particularly enjoy using the book as a way to take an active role in developing their grandchildren's leadership potential.
