  • The Breakout

    Kate Pollard

eBook (Kate Pollard, Nov. 8, 2015)
The Breakout is the second half of the story which began with The Brightness. It is a journey in to the realms of imagination and supernatural existence, where good and evil face up to each other and test their faith in their own dominance.Xander embarks on a mystical experience which brings him in to contact with Adon Olam, the Overseer of the realms of the heavens. He learns about his own destiny and identity and is equipped - along with his friends, the gentle and sensitive Rosie and Dan, confident and at ease with himself - by seven spirits, to take on the might and Manifesto of the Machiavellian statesman, Peter Nixon and the demon king, Moloch, whom he serves. Xander goes in search of the Brightness, but ultimately gains so much more. This story has touched my heart and excited me with the potential for the future of our nations, as it literally opened up to me and told itself, chapter by chapter over two books and sixteen months. This is not idealistic fiction, it is an intravenous injection of hope, and you are invited to share in it too.
  • The Brightness

    Kate Pollard

language (Kate Pollard, June 30, 2015)
This book is the beginning of a chain of inevitable events. I didn't just want to tell you a story though, I wanted to say something. It's more than a story; it's a message and a dream which I hope you will breathe in and savour as much as I have. Writing a book is a very personal thing, and I wanted to take you in to a world hinged on imagination and reality, then show you a glimpse of possibility. Come on this journey, which spans two books and all of time; you won't be disappointed!Without spoiling it for you, it's a story of a young woman's desire to make her mark, to try to change the things she sees wrong with her society - our society. She does this by founding an organisation called The Collective, which draws people together through the power of their positive thoughts, to affect that change. She gives this gift to young people, seeing that they have little to inspire or motivate them and this is where a group of children become the driving force in the story. They learn to work together and to operate with a benevolent light force called The Brightness, who empowers and inspires them. All is not what it seems, however, as a sinister plot is unveiled within the realm of the Castle where they have learnt to come together. It's an other-worldly place, generated by the creative power of the dynamic and resourceful Scarlett Tang and infused by the imaginations of countless young people. It's a place of possibility, of hope, which is now under threat.Perhaps I am a dreamer - I like to think I am - but I am also a believer. I believe in no limits and in the potential for so much more than we see around us. That's why I wrote this book. What do you believe in?This is the debut novel by Kate Pollard.
