Shakespeare's sonnets cannot be overestimated; this is the best sort of poetry. How clean, voiced imagery. In general, in what language you do not read – the pleasure is provided. Idealization of the beloved, ode to his beauty, magnification by his Perfection. But what is interesting – the author sees the imperfections of a loved one, but literally forgives them. And nothing can darken the object of affection for him.

  • The Old Curiosity Shop

    Charles Dickens

    eBook (Ktoczyta.pl, Feb. 13, 2017)
Charles Dickens's story of selfless Little Nell and her ailing grandfather and their persecution by the magnificently malignant villain Daniel Quilp, probably Dickens' most evil villain, has seized the imaginations and wrung the hearts of generations of readers. Nell's grandfather has borrowed money from Quilp to support a gambling habit and has lost everything, including the curiosity shop. Forced to flee, they wander the English countryside, north of London, trying to evade Daniel Quilp; they thrown into a shadowy world in which there seems to be no safe haven. Dickens's depiction of the fate of his main characters is famously harrowing and unfailingly suspenseful, but not the least of its charms is that it is embellished with a supporting cast of figures as grotesque and colorful as anything in the Old Curiosity Shop itself. "The Old Curiosity Shop" became an instant bestseller that captured the hearts of the nation, even as it was criticized for its sentimentality by figures such as Oscar Wilde.

  • Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz

    L. Frank Baum

    eBook (Ktoczyta.pl, April 26, 2019)
Originally published in 1908, while Baum was resident in Coronado, California, "Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz" is considered one of the "darker" of the Oz tales. However, it also is enlivened by Baum's considerable wit, penchant for puns, and dry social commentary. This fourth "Oz" novel sees Kansas farm-girl Dorothy Gale once again transported to magical lands, this time thanks to a California earthquake, during which our heroine falls into the depths of the earth, together with a boy name Zeb, his carriage-horse Jim, and Dorothy's mischievous kitten, Eureka. Deep beneath the earth, Dorothy is reunited with her old friend the Wizard of Oz and his troupe of nine tiny piglets. Together, they embark on an adventure through the earth dealing with angry vegetables, invisible people and bears, and wooden gargoyles. Eventually, after confronting a cave full of dragonettes, the travelers are rescued by Ozma of Oz, who transports them to the Emerald City. Here Dorothy and Wizard meet many old friends, while Eureka meets trouble...
  • The Young Forester

    Zane Grey

After he received his father's permission to go west to work with a friend of childhood, Ken sees a devastating operation that cuts down the trees and leaves nothing behind. Throughout the text, Ken struggled with woodcutters to preserve the Penetrari Forest and the future of the industry. The book is written at a time when the United States government began to understand conservatism in communicating with the natural world; history is spinning around the same problems that many people have experienced. Between the main story, the strong characters and the perfectly detailed environment, this book made me be a forester.
