This is the modern reworking of the 2007 publication of The Crafty Golden Retriever Knits, a knitting pattern book of picture knit designs reflecting the world of the Golden Retriever dog. The book is divided into three section. The first is patterns and Included in this Kindle edition are twenty-five different items you can knit, everything from sweaters to hats to afghans and more. The projects include items to be knit in sizes from infant up to men's size 2X. Once the knitter decides what to knit, the next step is to choose one of the twenty-five charted designs to work into whatever project is being created from the second part of the book. The design charts reflect all the different activities that are unique to the Golden Retriever breed. The final section of the book is made up of articles about the Golden and the activities that have inspired many of the designs. The book is illustrated by photographs of Golden Retrievers doing all the things that make the breed so popular both in the United States and around the world.

The photographers who illustrate the book are Betty Schmidt, who specializes in photos of dogs competing in field trials or hunting with their owners, and Mary and Joseph MacQueen, who photograph dogs from their own Nitro Golden kennel. Mary shares the experience of her work in search and rescue and drug detection in which she and her dog Ch. Robin are vitally active and the story is an inspiration.
