I was five years old and I was going on my biggest adventure ever, to the other side of the Pacific Ocean, to New Zealand. My parents and I were taking a two-week holiday to explore the country and see how they liked it. My Mum and Dad were thinking about moving to New Zealand from California where I have lived all my life. They wanted to look at different cities there for a possible move to New Zealand, but I didn’t know it at the time. We had a wonderful holiday and most importantly we all thought that Sunny Nelson on the top of New Zealand’s south island might just be a perfect city for us. Most importantly it had a big sand beach, water slides, a zoo, and many other fun kid things. If you are going to live on an island in the South Pacific then you definitely want to live in a city with a nice beach.Back in California my parents said “Let’s do it”, and with that we started the paperwork to immigrate. This was the very beginning of many exciting adventures and a new life for all of us.
