A few years ago, I picked up a children’s Bible (made out of sturdy cardboard pages) and brought it home. My kids loved it, and became very familiar with the stories of the Bible. One day, I asked them about a Book of Mormon story, and they had no idea what I was talking about. I have looked for a children’s version of the Book of Mormon, but they were all a bit too mature for my 7 and 5 year old to understand. I needed something that would teach to their level. So, I decided to write it myself, and have them illustrate it.My children loved the idea. Brandon thought we could sell it! At first, I laughed at the idea. But with the Kindle, publishing is much easier so, I thought I would give it a shot! Our Bible was read so much, it’s practically destroyed now. I think it’s ok to read a Bible so much that it gets worn out. I hope to do the same with the Book of Mormon. (But make sure your kids don’t destroy your Kindle or Nook or e-Reader!) Brandon suggested that we make a child’s version of the Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price too, so we did!

After working on the Book of Mormon for Kids, my son Brandon was so excited that he wanted to make a children’s version of the Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price too. We were pleased with the initial success of our first book, and noticed there is nothing for kids on these two other books of Mormon scripture. Here are 24 of the most important sections of the Doctrine and Covenants explained on a kids level. Your kids can learn important things like consecration, fasting, tithing, and the Celestial Kingdom. For example, Brandon and Jessica learn about Consecration as a great way to share our possessions (and they share a train.) Fasting is important, but it does make your stomach growl sometimes. We hope you’ll enjoy this as much as we enjoyed making it!
  • Pearl of Great Price for Kids

The Pearl of Great Price is a book of scripture for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Until now, there has never been a children's version of this book of scripture. I wrote a few stories from this book of scripture, and my children Brandon and Jessica illustrated the book. The book should appeal to children ages 2-10. This is the third book of LDS scripture we have put together (Doctrine and Covenants for Kids, and Book of Mormon for Kids.) We hope you’ll enjoy this as much as we enjoyed making it!
  • Mystery of the Open Window

    Jessica Bennett, Rick Bennett

My kids have had fun illustrating The Bible for Kids and a few other books on Amazon. My 8 year old daughter Jessica decided she wanted to try her hand at being an author, and she wanted to write a mystery for pre-school kids. There’s an open window, bunny slippers, a hamburger and a Pet store. Can you figure out who is finding all these clues?
