The story tells all the unfavorable reactions of the tawny owl, the turtle dove, a mother warbler, the crow. Even the mute swan went 'Mmmmmm - - - -, Mmmmmm - - - -.' And finally the mother thrush. The woodpecker was commissioned to find the source of the loud peep, which he did, and mother wren warned baby wren not to do it again. However the very next morning baby wren let out a very LOUD PEEP! This upset the birds even more. Finally wise owl called a meeting and gave his speech, which ended up having a surprise solution that showed the interaction of all the birds - to unite and understand. There are implicit moral lessons. v + 40 pp., 8-1/2 x 7.
