  • Our Domestic Birds - Elementary Lessons in Aviculture

    John Henry Robinson

Paperback (Earle Press, May 21, 2015)
This fascinating text contains a detailed treatise on the domestic birds of America. The object of this book is multifarious: to tell in plain language the things that everyone ought to know about poultry, pigeons, and cage birds; to teach fundamental facts in such a way that they will be fixed in the mind; to excite interest in the subject where none hitherto existed; and to direct enthusiasm along the right lines. The perfect book for those with a keen interest in the birds common to America, this antique text also constitutes a great addition to any collection of ornithological literature. The chapters of this book include: 'Birds and their Relations to Man', 'Characters and Habits of Birds related to Use', 'Species and their Divisions in Domestic Birds', 'Fowls', 'Management of Fowls', 'Ducks', 'Management of Ducks', 'Geese', 'Management of Geese', 'Turkeys', 'Management of Turkeys', 'Guineas', 'Peafowl', 'Pheasants', 'Swans', 'Ostriches', 'Pigeons', 'Management of Pigeons', 'Canaries', 'Distribution of Market Products', 'Exhibitions and the Fancy Trade', and 'Occupations Related to Aviculture'.
