Adventures of Young Jack Harkaway and His Boy Tinker
Bracebridge Hemyng
(Donohue Brothers, Jan. 1, 1900)
In an old Horatio Alger book, in the back where other series of books are listed/advertised, you can find The Jack Harkaway series with the subscript : For a regular thriller send me directly to Jack Harkaway. This book is illustrated. There is no pub date in the book but it appears to be c. 1900*. The autor, Bracebridge Hemyng lived from 1841 to 1901. On the copy right page of this book it says this title is #14 in the series. this is what is called a DIME NOVEL in the US or a BLOOD NOVEL in England. The author was British. He lived in the US in the 1870s and wrote & published most (or maybe all) of the Harkaway novel during that decade—after which he returned to England. ** This book has no date in it—but we have found documentation of the title being listed as one that was available from this publisher in a Horatio Alger book — that book was also dateless but it contained an inscription dated 1913.
