Tarek, Caius Julius Caesar, Andrew Benteau, Vincent Pompetti

Hardcover (Black Panel Press, March 15, 2018)
"Pompetti and Tarek have produced a visually intoxicating work whose sense of grandeur is difficult not to get swept up in." - A Place to Hang Your Cape Based on Julius Caesar's influential work "Commentaries on the Gallic War", "Conquest: Julius Caesar's Gallic Wars" is a 136 page graphic novel account of Julius Caesar's conquest of Gaul from 49 B.C. to 52 B.C. Painstakingly painted by hand in watercolor and meticulously researched using the most recent archaeological data available, this book is one of the most accurate accounts, both visually and textually, of this period in history. "The whole of Gaul is divided into three parts: one of which the Belgae inhabit, the Aquitani another, and the third a people who in their own language are called 'Celts,' but in ours, 'Gauls.' They all differ among themselves in respect of language, way of life, and laws...." language (Black Pines Press, Sept. 8, 2018)
Surviving an apocalypse sucks. It totally does. Instead of counting herself lucky to be alive, Tess struggles to find the will to keep placing one foot in front of the other, especially when the most she ever had to worry about before the meteor catastrophe was whether sheā€™d have a date to prom.Climbing mountainsā€”againā€”dealing with the lack of food, clean water, and wondering what the point of it all is doesnā€™t feel much like luck at all. More like punishment.Maybe itā€™d be different if she had Cole by her side, as troublesome and irritating as he could be. But he doesnā€™t seem to be anywhere, and Tess wonders if heā€™d ever truly been there in the first place. Her dad and brother donā€™t buy her story of a lone wolf coming to her rescue, and as things become more and more difficult, sheā€™s slowly beginning to doubt herself, too.Real? Imaginary? A product of her delusional mind? Coleā€™s existenceā€”or nonexistenceā€”remains a mystery because this time around, thereā€™s more than just herself and a kitten to take care of. This time, someone vulnerable depends on her strength and bravery more than ever before.[Young Adult, Apocalyptic, Survival, Horror, Mystery]"Wow. I hope there is another book. I read this book on the advice of a friendā€™s daughter. I didnā€™t expect much from the story but found myself blown away at each turn and twist of the story. There has to be a sequel; there must be. This is too good a story to let lie in just one book. I rank this up there with the Hunger Games and Divergent." ~ Paradox Tremors "A month after reading Anyone? I'm still thinking about it. I may love this genre, but this is the first one that really grabbed me and stayed with me. It's a MUST READ again and again and again." ~ Kindle CustomerANYONE ELSE?
