  • Druid Animal Oracle Deck

Philip Carr-Gomm, Stephanie Carr-Gomm, Bill Worthington

Cards (Connections Book Publishing, Oct. 1, 2006)
The Druids revered animals as sacred guides, guardians, and protectors. This beautifully illustrated deck and accompanying booklet draws from the wellspring of ancient Celtic tradition, bringing healing and offering intuitive knowledge. From the interpretations of the card spreads and the lore given, one will gain powerful insights and receive positive guidance for the future. The cards have been drawn using the principles of sacred geometry, a science of great importance to the megalith-building, pre-Celtic Druids, who employed it extensively in the building of stone circles. Each image incorporates the same use of a pentagram, circle and square. The border of the animal cards conveys a message in Ogham--the tree language of the Druids. The animals are presented in a sequence starting with the Blackbird, who stands at the Gateway, the Place of Beginnings, calling us to adventure and change. Journeying to the four other Oldest Animals of Stag, Owl, Eagle, and Salmon, we come to know animals that lead us deeper into the Otherworld, through a cycle of personal change that leads to turning to the outer world again, the empowerment of the four dragons and the concluding card of the Seal--the card of love and the necessity for choice in a world that is both joyous and challenging. The text presents a summary of the Druid, Celtic and native teachings, concerning twenty-nine animals and four dragons. In addition, there are three blank cards that can be used to draw animals that are personal to the reader. Use the cards as totems or turn to the oracle system provided by the authors. In either case, these Druid animals can provide positive guidance and insights into the inner dynamics behind events in our lives

  • Karl Barth in Plain English

    Stephen D. Morrison

eBook (Beloved Publishing, June 5, 2017)
"This is a book for beginners, by a beginner..." (from the author's preface)"Karl Barth in Plain English," by Stephen D Morrison, is a clear and concise introduction to the theology of Karl Barth. Written from one amateur to another, Stephen hopes to introduce you to Barth's complex thought without all the confusing theological jargon often involved in discussions of his work. By focusing on eight major ideas central to Barth's thought, Stephen provides you with a profoundly helpful study of one of the greatest minds in modern theology. This book is the product of years of reading and studying Barth as an amateur theologian, and presents an accessible guide to Barth with the hopes of making his theology more understandable to other "amateurs." As Barth himself once said, β€œIn the Church of Jesus Christ there can and should be no non-theologians.” It is in this spirit that Stephen humbly presents, β€œKarl Barth in Plain English.” In this book Stephen covers a wide range of subjects in Barth's thought, working from a careful reading of Barth's "Church Dogmatics," alongside his other popular books and sermons. Topics discussed include Barth's rejection of natural theology, the doctrine of revelation and the Trinity, the threefold Word of God, Barth and Biblical inerrancy, the doctrine of election, Barth and universalism, creation and the covenant, reconciliation, the Church, and theological ethics. "This book strives for simplicity without oversimplification, clarity without skimming over the details, and brevity without lacking in depth. I hope to present a fair and accessible look into Barth, because I believe his work deserves a wider audience not just among the 'professionals' but among us 'amateurs' too." (author's preface)

  • The Amazing Adventure, Discovering the New Me!

Bud Cox, Anne Alexander, Kim Smith, Mark James

Paperback (Life Connection Publishing, March 15, 2009)
The Amazing Adventure, Discovering the New Me! is a Bible story curriculum that gives children an overview of the entire Bible. The lessons are designed to follow the chronological progression from the Old Testament to the New Testament with 31 adventure-filled stories, based on the lives of twenty Bible characters. Children will see how each character has a place in God's unfolding story, and how each one of us fits into God's ultimate plan. The Amazing Adventure lays a solid grace-based foundation to help children understand what God's Word says about their identity in Christ. β€’ The artwork and full-color design grabs the children's attention. β€’ The Bible stories are written in the first person, which helps to keep the children engaged until the end of the story. β€’ At the end of each story, there are activities that lead children to make a personal application in their own lives, based on that day's story. β€’ A heart response prayer is included after each Bible story that helps children to personally connect to the story. β€’ The last response question in each episode asks the children to draw a picture that describes the story-and there's plenty of room on the page. This is a tangible way to cement the biblical truth they've just heard. β€’ There's a Bible verse at the end of each lesson, which can be used as a memory verse. β€’ Children who are doing these lessons on their own can check their work by comparing their answers to the answers provided in the back of the book.
