Nurturing spiritual development through awe and wonder, this book addresses the issues of conservation in an open and non-threatening environment. Using readily-available vidual aids and fully-photocopiable templates and graphics, it invites children and adults alike to: reflect on the fragility of the earth; become more aware of the complexity of our interdependent lives; and consider how we might relate to each other in a sustainable and relational way. The sessions move week by week from the wider planetary view, to the land, the community, to the self. Each week as the story unfolds, the group is invited to recapture the interconnectedness of all things and something of the vision of God. Clear instructions are provided for preparing the three-dimensional materials, together with carefully-crafted scripts to guide the leader or storyteller through each of the five sessions.

There are many occasions during the course of the year when teachers would like to involve their pupils in a simple dramatised presentation. Brian Ogden offers five plays with simple directions, costumes and props to ensure manageable preparation and the minimum of fuss. The plays include three well-known parables (the prodigal son, the two builders and the farmer), the story of creation and a simple presentation for Holy Week and Easter.

This fresh approach to the parables aims to relate to young teens through situations familiar to their daily lives. Using a group of school friends as the point of contact with the reader, each parable is paralleled section by section with a contemporary story which helps to bring out the teaching of the parable itself. The author has used her abilities as a storyteller to bring the Bible story to life alongside the contemporary parable. The result is a resource which could be used in a teaching situation in the classroom or church as well as read by the individual. The first story has been enacted as a shory play as part of Keystage Three Literacy Hour work. The book forms a complete story whilst paralleling four parables: the lost sheep, the two sons, the precious pearl, and the Pharisee and the tax collector.
