Gilbert Keith Chesterton(29 May 1874 – 14 June 1936), better known as G. K. Chesterton, was an English writer, poet, philosopher, dramatist, journalist, orator, lay theologian, biographer, and literary and art critic. Chesterton is often referred to as the "prince of paradox". Time magazine has observed of his writing style: "Whenever possible Chesterton made his points with popular sayings, proverbs, allegories—first carefully turning them inside out."

"What's Wrong With the World" is G. K. Chesterton's 1910 collection of essays in which he puts forth his economic philosophy of Distributism. Along with Hillaire Belloc, Chesterton formulated the idea of Distributism as an economic order that was more in line with the principles articulated by the Roman Catholic Church. Put simply Distributism argues that the means of production should be spread as widely as possible amongst the populace instead of being centrally controlled by the state or a handful of wealthy individuals or large businesses.
